Virginia M. (McMahon) O'Malley

Virginia “Ginnie” O’Malley (nee McMahon), age 77, died peacefully in her Beverly home on October 19, 2023. Loving mother of Michael (Anne), Brendan (Karen), Robert (Michelle), and the late Jill (Patrick) Cavanaugh. Dedicated grandmother to her adoring grandchildren: Aidan, Kaitlin, Emmett, Ryan, Emma, Patrick, Jack, Nolan, Grace, Ella, and Margaret. Devoted daughter of the late James and Agnes (O’Connor) McMahon. Beloved sister of Patricia (David) Suerth. Fond aunt, cousin, and loving friend to many.

She was a proud, intelligent, independent woman who graduated from DePaul University and spent 20+ years as a dedicated teacher at Sutherland Elementary School, where she cared deeply for her students and coworkers.

Ginnie enjoyed tending to her garden, swimming, making soups, baking, and spending time with close friends. She was the steady metronome of her family, always there at every game, play, recital, and family event. She loved hosting holiday gatherings, especially Christmas. Her holiday food was amazing and she never revealed the secrets of her gravy. She provided a type of love that always made you feel special. She lived her life on her terms. She loved spending time with her friends and was always thinking of others. 

A private celebration of Ginnie’s life will be held at a later date.
