Marie H. (Grosskopf) Schmit

Marie H. Schmit, age 83, of Chicago. Marie passed into eternal life on July 11th to have coffee and donuts with the angels. Marie was born on the South Side of Chicago to Henry and Anna Grosskopf on August 1, 1938. She married her soulmate, the late Leonard Schmit, in January 1964 and they celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary days before he passed. She was a loving sister to older brother Frederick (Ardythe) and younger brother Edmund (Margaret). Was a loving mother to Laura Liston, Barbara (Ronald) Lettiere, Emily (Jon) Baltas, Karen (Steve) Siegel, Deborah (Robb) Kaczmarek, Marilyn (Peter) Zopf, Bernard (Erin) Schmit, Paul Schmit and Anna (Alex) Grant and the late Sharon. Dear grandmother to 25 grandchildren and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Friends and family will gather to celebrate a life well lived at St. John Fisher Church, 10300 S. Fairfield, on Saturday July 16th with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment at St. Mary Cemetery.
