James M Miller Jr. Obituary
James Monroe Miller Jr. passed away on December 29th, 2024. James, Jim to family and friends, was born in Fort Knox Kentucky on Tuesday January 5th, 1949 to Ida Sue Miller. Jim earned his education in a one room schoolhouse in Thompsonville IL while helping out around the family farm.
When war began in Vietnam, Jim was eager to serve his country, joining the Army a year early. During his training he went on a blind date where he met the love of his life, Marjorie Augle. Jim and Marge were married shortly after. In the Army, Jim excelled, quickly becoming a 173rd Airbourne Sky Soldier Brigade, and then a Green Beret. In combat Jim further distinguished himself, earning several military honors, including the Bronze Star. It was upon returning home, however, that Jim accomplished his greatest achievement, creating a home with Marge and raising his three loving daughters, Shelly, Shannon, and Jaime.
As his girls grew, Jim became first a grandfather, to Kyle, Joshua, and Emily Barwan, and later to Miller, Anderson, and Paxton Vanderwoude, and later a Great Grandfather to Brayleigh and Maverick Martin, and Willow and Lincoln Barwan.
Jim, loved by many, is survived by his wife Marjorie, his three daughters, his siblings Sharon (Bobby) Glaze and Dale (Connie) Melvin and many loving nieces and nephews.
