James Allen Johnsen, 86, of Orland Park, Illinois, died May 3, 2026.
He was born on July 31, 1939, to Fritchof and Gertrude Johnsen nee Tiemersma in Chicago, Illinois.
James graduated from Harper High School, later earning an associate's degree in business administration from Moraine Valley Community College.
James served in the United States Army from 1964-1966 as a Payroll Specialist with the 1097th Transportation Company within the 394th Transportation Battalion. James was deployed to Vietnam and stationed domestically at Fort Eustice, Virginia.
He worked for Federal Sign and Signal for 30 years in personnel overseeing payroll and accounts payable, retiring in 1995. Once retired, he was able to pursue his passion for helping others as a Geriatric Care Manager and serving as a member of the board for Washington and Jane Smith Village Retirement Community.
James is survived by his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. James was a beloved Uncle and will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fritchof and Gertrude Johnsen, his sister and brother-in-law Marguerite and Wayne Boerema, his brother and sister-in-law Dennis and Barbara Johnsen, and his longtime partner John C. Choe.
Resting at Beverly Ridge Funeral Home, 10415 S. Kedzie Ave. Monday, May 18th, 9:30 a.m. until time of funeral services 12:00 noon.
Interment with Military Honors will follow at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery located at 20953 West Hoff Road in Elwood, IL 60421.
