Eleanor Bilecki Sears, devoted wife, mother, registered nurse, and all around generous soul, died peacefully on August 6th after a short illness.  She was 90 years old.  

Daughter of the late Frank and Bernice Bilecki, Eleanor was born and raised in Brighton Park and attended Immaculate Conception Catholic School, Saint Casimer Academy (later Maria High School), and Saint Elizabeth nursing school.  A registered nurse for 50 years – and Nursing Magazine’s 2003 Nurse of the Year – during her career she cared for people at Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital, the University of Chicago, Christ Hospital, the Washington and Jane Smith Home, and Holy Cross Hospital.  A particular source of pride and joy was her service as a nurse with the B&O Railroad on the Capitol Limited.  

She was the loving wife of Frederick Sears; caring mother of Frederick Jr., Margaret retd Captain, CPD, David retd USAF (Sharee), Bronwyn, Allison (Greg), and Matthew (Cyndi); and doting grandmother of Alandra, Elizabeth, Eleanor, Matthew Jr., Michael, Nathan, and Tessa.
