Carrie Louise Gillian
October 4th, 1952 - July 4th, 2023
Carrie Gillian, Age 70, St. Cajetan Parish, Beverly Neighborhood, Chicago,
passed away at home on July 4th 2023.
Carrie was born and raised in Hammond, Indiana. She is preceeded in death by her
loving brothers Anthony and Noah, as well as her parents William and
Virginia(Gruszka) Gillian.
Carrie is survived by life partner William "Tracy" Morris, sister Noran
(Michael) Warot, cherished niece Virginia Warot, sister in law Maria Gillian, The Morris family, her devoted dog Sadie, and many loving friends.
Carrie graduated Gavit High School in 1970. Carrie worked as unit clerk and
later pharmacy Tech at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in Dyer, Indiana.
After years out of state, Carrie returned to Hammond to help care for her father
William.
Carrie, reknown for her amazing cooking, especialy hosting holiday meals for
friends and family.
She was gifted in everything she did: knitting, crochet, cross stitch,
gardening, drawing, sketching and other diverse interests. Her handwriting, made
her notes works of art.
She loved to hunt for treasures and bargains. She often accompanied her father
to various Chicagoland flea markets, and antique shows.
At the St Charles, IL, antique show, she met the love of her life, William
"Tracy" Morris. They've been a dedicated loving couple for the past 20 years.
Tracy devoted to Carrie, and she cherished every moment with him. He created a
cozy, comfortable home for them.
Carrie had a deep love of dogs, elephants, Halloween, fireworks, and her family.
Carrie was named after her aunt Carrie Long, who ran an exclusive dress shop in
downtown Hammond in the 1940s and 50s. The same shop, where her parents first
met.
Carrie was a loving spouse, a devoted daughter and sister, and adoring Aunt to
her niece. She was a caring friend to many she met.
Memorial Visitation Saturday 3:00 p.m. at Beverly Ridge Funeral Home, 10415 S. Kedzie Ave. until time of services 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of Flowers, the family request donations to the South Suburban Humane
Society or St Jude's Children's Hospital. These charities were near and dear to
Carrie's heart.
