Gordon Arthur Engstrom of Chicago Illinois , passed away on July 24th, age of 76 years. Family and friends know him as "Corky".
Gordon is survived by his wife, Judith Engstrom, they were married 50 years, daughter June Wylie and her husband John Wylie and grandson Johnny, daughter Emily Engstrom, son David and his wife Elizabeth and grandaughter Sofia and grandson Davey, and son Daniel Engstrom and granddaughters Niah and Isabel and grandson Nathan. Gordon also had a brother Richard Engstrom and newphew Ricky Engstrom and neice Susan Koopman. Corky also had 2 loving dogs, Pebbles and Baby.
Corky loved sports, especially baseball and his favorite team was Chicago White Sox. He loved old Comisky Park and went to many games as a child with his dad Signild Engstrom and brother Richard. Gordon also loved the Chicago Blackhawks and always hoped for the best of the Chicago Bears.
Corky worked as a welder at companies Wyman & Gordon and Gilbert and Bennett for over 25 years as a welder. He also worked at Chicago Sun Times as a 2nd job delivering newspapers. Corky also worked security at Whitney Young High school for many years.
Corky loved trains and had lots of model trains. He was also a civil war buff. He loved movies and books about Gettsburg. He also had a huge movie collection of vhs and dvds. He could open up his own rental company with the thousands of movies he had. He also was amazing at playing checkers and the card game Hearts.
Corky always enjoyed sunny days at the resturant Wonder Burger eating burgers and drinking Green River soda and orange whips.
Corky had a wonderful smile and great sense of humor. He always had the best stories and was a people person. He loved spending time with his family and friends.You are forever in hearts and spirits!
